Another artist I looked at during the process of creating my final piece was Schnabel, the reason I was drawn to this artist was the way she painted. Her paintings are done by layering paints and creating a deeply textured portrait. When looking at links between her work and mine is simply in the way I created my backgrounds, at the time of creating my backgrounds I wanted to build up texture in the paints leaving thick lines of paint allowing strong primary colours to bleed through my background and make my plain black screen print of the queen more unique and stand out more than it would on a plain coloured background.
